WOYWW # 164

It's time to pop round the world and peek onto all the crafty desktops...yep, it's What's On Your Workplace Wednesday!  Be sure to drop by the lovely Julia's blog  http://stamping-ground.blogspot.ca/  and leave her a little blog hug as she is the one who hosts all this peeking.

I am still struggling to re establish my crafting routines. My room was a bit of a fright so I have spent a couple of evenings filing away all the bits and bobs on the main desktop. I attended the Clipper Street Scrapbook Store garage sale on Saturday and managed to get a lovely bunch of 12x12 cardstock and patterned paper @ 12 sheets for a dollar.  Fifteen dollars later, I had a huge bag of paper to file.

I should have kept on with the job and got the embellishments filed away...instead I got waylaid by the realization that  I now had enough clear counters to perhaps make a card. I put together a Christmas card and decided to try out the new Kraft chevron bag as my envelope.
A couple of strategically punched holes, a bit of coloured jute threaded through and voila!

I went with fine, brown jute as it went with the card.
Here is the matching card. Thanks goodness for clicking on photos to enlarge them...I have just noticed some of the pearls have shifted and 2 of the shifty little beggars have escaped!!! I am off to search the rug for the elusive escapees. I had better find them as I used the last of these teensy pearls and can't remember which dollar store they are from.

As usual, my photography skills are lacking. I do something wrong when I take my pictures:(    My cards always look bottom heavy and elongated on top. I never seem to get them square on. In this photo, it looks as if the red border is missing on the bottom of the PP rectangle. It is there, but it hidden in the angle of the photo. I used a florist frog to try to avoid this angled problem:(    It didn't work!
Any critiques and helpful suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Wow,you could land a plane on that tidy space! 12 sheets for a dollar, how irresistible! The chevron thing hasn't really arrived here yet, but you North American gals are sure showing us the way...

Your card is Lovely and hope you do find the little escapees too but if not don't worry just take off a few more and make it look like you ment it to be like that.:) And the bag is a Great idea too!!!
About taking the pics I'm really not a good one to give advise. but maybe if you took it with the camera at the same level as the card it would help... not sure really!!

Oh such a clean work space and I love the bag envelope!

I lay my projects flat on the floor and try line the camera straight over the top of it. The lens does curve things a bit too. I use Picasa to edit out the floor and usually have quite a good photo in the end.

I have the proportion problem with my photos, too! I'm too darn lazy to look in the little, but very fat, owner's manual, even though I imagine it is a simple fix!! (I'll just check back here now and then and see if anyone gave you advice, or you can let me know!)

Your chevron bag turned out to be super adorable for holding your delightful card! Hope you found the little pearls!

Hello! I'm so pleased you stopped by my blog, and I really enjoyed the comment you left. It also gives me the opportunity for a return visit to a new-to-me blog. Fun! I love your crafty space with all those colorful jars. Really makes you want to create, doesn't it? I recently cleaned and reorganized my stamp room and now I love to be there when I can find the time (which I did today--yay!) Very cute card and I love how you put one of your new chevron bags to use as the envelope. Clever!

Wow, what a bargain! We're heading for the US of A in September and I already plan to buy another suitcase over there, err. for any crafty goodies I might find in NM :)

Lovely bags and card. Re. the photos, someone suggested trying to shoot directly in line with the card - I go along with that as sometimes mine look like vases so I usually crouch and hope I can get back up again! :( Some folk scan theirs, but not always easy with embellishments on.

You asked if I printed sentiments, sometimes I do when it's more personalised wording. I just use a word processing programme (nothing fancy here girl!), and pick the centre option, type the words, then copy and paste a few times down the page, alter the sizes and colours a bit and print out onto paper to see what it's like. It can take a few goes to get the size and colour just right before I commit to a sheet of card. One tip, even if you have some fairly normal fonts (again, I just use what's bundled with Linux Mint - and that's not a lot to choose from) - do have a go at a font and tweak it to italics. Sometimes the most ordinary fonts can look great when in italics.

Such a beautiful card and the kraft bag is a wonderful idea for an envelope. Are you photographing your cards straight on or on the floor?

Your card is lovely and the baggie is such a cool idea for an envelope!

Great card-I love the use of the bag, as the envelope. I like taking my photos outside in indirect sunlight. I usually prop my layouts/cards against a wall to get a semi-decent photo.

Loving the bag, not seen them in the UK yet and wow....that's some fab organising and cute storage on your desk.

As to the photo, it looks fine. To ensure it is straight if your camera has a setting with a grid, use it to centre your card....I use mine all the time.

Thanks for visiting my desk already.

Lovely card - despite the escapees, hope you found them by now, and the envelope is super - love the chevrons but, as yet, we are not finding crafting stuff featuring them over here in Scotland. I'm a bit hit and miss taking photos of my creations and fiddle for ages trying to get it straight ... my real bugbear is photographing 12x12 layouts, they are a nightmare! Sorry, none of that is much help to you. Hope you have a lovely weekend, Elizabeth x #24

Thanks for stopping by this week, I’m so late getting round to everyone again but better late than never!

Such a stylish Christmas card and envelope and a great bit of re-cycling to boot!
I had a pearl malfunction recently. I somehow managed to miss two off completely and like you only noticed it as I was blogging the photo. Unfortunately my brother had already taken the card before I had noticed, so I had to get him to come back with it so I could add the missing pearls.

Happy Crafting!
